The Hornet's Nest presents...
A Hornetmeister and Sir James Production.

SWARM 2001: A HORNET ODYSSEY.

The biggest Swarm yet.

THE EVENT: A weekend of Hornet fun, ride-outs, BBQ, banter, competitions, bonfire, wine and fine ales...

THE DATE: Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September 2001.

THE PLACE: The England's Rose pub and biker cafe in Postcombe, on the A40 on the way to Oxford.

THE FINER DETAILS: The event is to be held over a weekend so that we can get maximum Hornet fun. Hornet riders are welcome to bring along other biking friends - but must remmeber that Horneteers have priority when it comes to camping, parking and grub!
Camping is available to the rear of the venue. There is about an acre and a half of grass to use - which sounds a lot, but believe me - it aint. Especially when we need space for the club tent and a clear area for a bonfire.
Anyone wishing to camp on the Saturday night is welcome to do so - but you need to contact me so that I can allocate you a pitch. There are a maximum of 40 pitches available. Camping is free, drinks, food and the BBQ will be provided by the proprietors of the pub/cafe - so you pay for that on an 'as required' basis!

ITINERARY.

Saturday 1st September 2001.
Riders should aim to arrive at 11.00am. Meeting in the car park at the front of the venue.
All riders need to check in on arrival. At check in you will be given an information pack detailing the weekends events and times and if you have pre reserved a camping pitch you will be given a tag to attach to you tent once you have pitched it.
There will be a period of free time, banter and tent pitching just to allow everyone to get aquainted with their surroundings and relax a bit.
We are hoping to have a large van to use over the weekend which will also double up as a safe area for stowing Helmets/bike kit/cameras etc.Use of the safe holding will be charged at 2 a day.
Lunch will be available from the cafe from 12 Noon.
After lunch there will be a series of ride-outs leaving at specified times.
This year we are trying to keep the rides to manageble sized groups leaving over a staggered time frame.
So...
WHEN YOU ARRIVE YOU MUST PUT YOUR NAME DOWN FOR RIDE OUTS AND BE IN THE SPECIFIED DEPARTURE AREA 10 MINS BEFORE THE RIDE OUT IS DUE TO COMMENCE!

There will be 2 rapid rides of no more than 6 riders (including the leader) followed by 3 intermediate rides (max 20 riders) leaving at staggered intervals.
Then at 4pm the raffle tickets will go on sale before we head out for the HORNET PROCESSION.
This is basically a steady ride on some excellent roads through some quaint villages with as many Hornets as we can muster! Maximum numbers - Maximum effect!!
The evenings BBQ and entertainment will commence at 6.30PM until late... :)

Sunday 2nd September 2001.
The bugle will sound at 8am!
Breakfast will be available between 7.30 and 9am in the bker cafe.
On the sunday there will be two intermediate ride outs followed by lunch and a repeat of the Hornet procession.
The ride outs should be over by 3.30 - so the tents can be dismantled and people can make their way home.

More details such as planned routes and maps will be added to this page as and when they are ready - so book your weekend out and stay tuned!
