Dennis has been riding bikes since he was big enough to get his leg over one. Needless to say, at just 17, he's got a boatload of experience and after seeing him in action in the first round of the Hornet cup - on a near standard bike - I'd say he's got what it takes to run for the championship. Good Luck Dennis.

Round 1

I met up with Dennis at Donnington
and spent some time chatting with him in his pit garage...

Most of the paint on Dennis's bike had just dried!

The Micron can only went on the day before the race and Dennis's bike was a pretty much bog standard 2000 model Hornet when it rolled out onto the track at Donnington.

Even though the bike still needed bringing up to full race spec Dennis made it count and notched up a tasty 3rd in the first race at Donnington - including the fastest lap!

Dennis pulling clear of the pack.

In the second race Dennis took a superb third again.
He's convinced that with some time to tweak the bike he can do even better.

Everyone here at the Hornet's Nest wishes him the best of luck as we look forward to the next round at Oulton Park on April 15th.

Round 2

Round 3

Dennis did the biz at Snetterton!
Two races - two wins!
After the racing he said: " I felt the best I ever have been with the bike and things just clicked into place."

Round 4 & 5

DENNIS DOES IT AGAIN! and is now leading the Honda Hornet Championship.

2 wins and a 2nd place...

In the first race he led from start to finish and was never really challenged for the lead, in the second race on Saturday he again led from the start, until the last lap, with 2 corners to go Richard Cooper ran across the grass and went straight into the side of him - breaking the exhaust, luckily Dennis stayed on and managed to come home 2nd.

On Sunday there was a change in format for the racing and instead of two legs there was only 1, but over a longer distance.
Dennis again came out on top, winning easily with no challenge for the lead.
Dennis returned home the leader of the championship - but with a broken clutch and gearbox - so it's into the workshop pronto - it's Snetterton this weekend!!

Good luck from everyone at the Hornet's Nest.

Round 6 & 7

Snetterton - DENNIS DOES IT AGAIN!

Round 6 & 7

Castle Coombe - DENNIS HOBBS #1!!!

Dennis does the biz and wins the 2000 Honda Hornet Cup Championship with still a round at Cadwell Park to go!!

What a day. Dennis got his first bad start of the season in the first race but easily made up time and quickly took his place at the front.
Some wicked lap times saw Dennis leave the reat of the field for dead.
Race 2 saw Dennis get off to a superb start and he lead from the word go.
Once again Dennis got himself well ahead of the pack and was giving us a fine display of his impeccable timing and handling. Pixel perfect on every lap.
On the sixth lap an accident forced out the red flag and the race was stopped.
Dennis was crowned Hornet Champion 2000 and deservedly so.

Congratulations from everyone at the Hornet's Nest.
